Children’s Chapel

Children’s Chapel (a.k.a. Children’s Church, Little Church) is a ministry for children aged 3 or 4 years old to 8 or 9 years old in which they are invited to worship together during the 10:30 am service every Sunday. During this time, the children worship in a fashion similar to what the adults are doing in “Big Church.”
This is not intended as a way to “get the children out of church,” rather it is a time where the service is directed towards children to engage them in the rituals and traditions observed in “big church.” Any child who wishes to remain with their parents is welcome to do so, and not required to attend Children’s Chapel. Parents are welcome and encouraged to join their child(ren) if it is deemed appropriate to them.
The service of Children’s Chapel is designed to complement the service parents are experiencing in “Big Church.” The children begin the service with their parents in the sanctuary and process out following the crucifer (person holding the cross) at the end of the processional hymn. They will have a service somewhat mirroring what is done in “big church.” Their service will progress in the following way:
-Gather
-Sing
-Proclaim and Respond to God’s Word
-Pray for the World and the Church
-Sing and return to “Big Church”
Children will rejoin their families during the Exchanging of the Peace and will be present for the remainder of the service. All baptized children (and adults) are welcome to receive Communion.
If you would like to be a part of Children’s Chapel, please contact Meg Mobley, Minister of Childrens and Family Formation at either 751-9184 or meg@stthomasspringdale.org.
